Tears of Joy

Amber Moore is with Barry Moore at Ozark Herbal Creations, LLC.
4 hrs · Springdale · Had you told me last year that I’d finally have a place to call my very own for Ozark Herbal Creations I would’ve thought it was impossible. This year has changed our entire world. From landing a sweet job working for HBO to opening a brick and mortar shop. Barry and my emotions have been run through the gauntlet. We’ve laughed, cried, yelled, lost our minds and come back again. We are so very grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves to us so far and we are looking forward to many more. I had a customer tell me the other day that she wishes her only job was to run a boutique and how nice it must be to have that as my job. It is nice but there is so much more going on than you see. I formulate and process most of the products for my shop. And everything else you see there are things that I’ve spent lots of time and energy curating to make sure it’s perfect. I design my own labels, I run my own website, I ship every order out, fill every bottle & mix everything with my own two hands. Barry grows a lot of the herbs, roots & veggies we use in our products. He processes the Ozark Tonic, runs the markets, craft shows & festivals we attend every season by himself. We are raising two of the most spectacular children and have four crazy pets that drive us nuts. Long story short, we do it all ourselves. We have zero employees. Every single thing you see us doing and creating come from our minds and our hands. It’s a huge task but it’s one with lots of passion and determination. We love what we do no matter how hard or busy it gets.  Living your “dream” can be the scariest thing you’ve ever done but at the same time be the most fulfilling. And here we are. Doing the damn thing. I’m so stinking grateful that I could cry. I thank every single one of you that supports us, holds us up when we cry, buys our products at market, shops our store & shares our victories with your friends and family because without you and your unwavering support we would not be Ozark Herbal Creations. We wouldn’t have over 4 years of successful buisness. We wouldn’t have our dreams become a reality. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

So much has been going on! We've been a part of so many amazing events throughout the year but our most memorable & fun times include, but are not limited to, The Homegrown festival in Siloam Springs Arkansas, where we met so many awesome people & had such a great time, The Queen City Craft Show in Springfield, Mo & Craft Addicts Handmade Holiday Sale in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We are always thrilled to get any vending gigs no matter how big or small! It's what we love to do the most. Actually meeting you all and sampling our products is where we thrive, apart from being in the garden. :)
On a much sadder note, it felt like we went through hell and highwater when disaster struck our tiny urban farm in November during a crazy storm. A massive tree came down across most of our gardens. In its wake destroying tons of fencing, our brand new Ozark Slow Food funded hoop house that we had just built the week before & our raised beds with our freshly planted organic heirloom garlic bulbs in for the season. I wasn't sure how we would recover until my sister started a gofundme for us. We were able to raise enough money to to restore everything before planting season this spring, thanks to our community!! In December we were named Ozark Natural Foods vendors of the month & had an article featuring our small business in the Nutshell, our co-op's monthly magazine. We are so honored to have such an outpouring if love & support from our local community. It really tells us that what we've chosen to do with ourselves, our true path, our passion is something we can achieve while making enough money to support our family. It's all we want & ask for & we thank you all for making it happen. I'll be back soon to share more tidbits of our lives and progression of our business! Love you all!

So far we've participated in several events in our community this year. We rocked The Natural State of health at the Fayetteville Town Center back in May and just recently had a space at Ozark Natural foods P6 Vendor Shindig where we sampled Ozark Tonic, Barry's Bomb Pesto (the recipe can be found in the recipes tab) mint tea with fresh mint from our garden and our line of bath & beauty products. We sell a variety of products & produce at our local co-op and are so proud to do wholesale business with them. We will also be participating in another event with them called The Midtown Music Showcase on September 13, 2015 from 2-5 pm and we are really pumped!! Here are pictures from both events we've done so far. We hope for many more in the future as we love connecting with potential customers and sampling our products. Its really fun!

I'm super happy to say that I am almost done with our line of products for now. I'll be always working on perfecting our products and continuing on with my herbalist courses for the remainder of the year. Check out the new labels I designed along with a few new products. I'm really proud to present these!

Becoming Certified Naturally Grown

This poster says it all! Over the summer our humble little city farm has become Certified Naturally Grown. This is a huge step in the right direction for our farm! Growing using the most natural methods is  very important to us and to Mother Earth. All of this is pretty surreal because its hard for us to imagine turning what we’ve always done into a business! Its all kind of laid itself out there for us and beckoned to our hearts and souls. Farming is truly a labor of love! I’m so thrilled that this is the path chosen for us! Our family dynamic is working pretty well at the moment, it feels so old school and I LOVE it!! I like to imagine myself living as my great grand parents did. This makes me proud! Barry is the farmer and I am his assistant, of sorts. I tend to the house, our rambunctious children, and let my creativity guide me in the kitchen with what he has grown in the garden. Creating, cooking, canning, infusing, recipe writing, experimenting are all mine to dive into on a daily basis and its definitely my creative outlet. I’m so thankful for this life we live and the folks that are in it with us. I plan on writing my next blog about how Ozark Herbal Creations was born and a little more about who we are and what it is we are trying to accomplish. Thanks for stopping by!
